Crazy?

Wow... its been a long time since I posted something, and alot has gone on. I got married, changed jobs (several times), watched as my 17 year old son decides that he knows so much more than everyone else.

So to say things have been "crazy" would be a massive understatement. The thing is, while I was serving at my church, and driving a bunch of 9th graders around for the Diciple Now Weekend, a dude named Vince Antonucci spoke. Now this isnt some Joe Peci, Robert DeNiro, or some stereotypical forggetaboutit italian gangster. Vince is a man of God that knows how to teach and pass is message along. In is message, he shared several stories about being "crazy" for Christ, and I must admit, I have enjoyed the security of being a "safe Christian".

My favorite story that he shared was the one about Jesus healing the blind man. Now the Messiah could have spoken the words and restored the sight of the blind man. He could have waived his hand over the guy and "poof" he could see. He could have had him pray, could have do any number of things when he was asked to heal the blind man, but no, Jesus Christ, The Great Healer, spit in the mans face. Thats right, he spit, and the man could see. Now thats CRAZY! (Mark 8: 22-25)

Hearing the various stories of how "crazy" we should be, has made me realize that I need to let go of whatever security blanket that I am holding on to and just be a fool for Christ. So thats my vow. I will, I am a fool for Jesus Christ, and there is nothing or no one that I will not share my faith with.

Good day all!

Ok Charlie...here's your chance ok?
Tell me how you were saved?..or tell me how to be saved and know it.

I was saved by confessing to Jesus that I am a sinner, and asking him to come into my heart. I know that I will still have sin in my life but it is my calling to have a close, personal, and intimate relationship with my Creator, my Father, and my God. I know I am saved just like you know a chair will hold you when you sit down. You lean back, put all of your faith in that chair and you sit. I don't know about you, but I have never had a chair break on me! If I have ever fallen it is because I messed things up, but not because the chair wasnt there to catch me.

Charlie,
My first reaction to your comment was of sadness, but that quickly turned to anger. Who in the world told you that confessing to Jesus you are a sinner and asking Him in your heart has anything to do with being saved?...Is that some of the junk Vince Antonucci is spewing around?
None of what you told me gives me any belief whatsoever you have an understanding of salvation, let alone that you are a saved person.

The Bible never tells us in any way shape or form a soul is saved by what you apparently are claiming as a salvation testimony.

The Bible tells us clearly what the Gospel is...what we are to be trusting and place our faith in....and if we do...we are saved now!!!!

The Apostle Paul gives us the GOSPEL!
1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which WE are saved....
1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

Ok Paul, what is the Gospel that saves our never dying soul?
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ok, now we have the Gospel which saves our never dying soul....what's next?

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

By God's Grace, through Faith....when we place our faith in the finished work of Christ, His death, bural and resurrection for the complete and total payment for OUR sins....God counts our faith for righteousness and saves us..seals us...seats us in heavenly places...

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

This stuff of confessing sins and asking Jesus into your heart bologna couldn't save your goldfish and they are already water baptized!

Hope you read this and understand what is being said.

Grace and Peace!
Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

I am more than a little perplexed. I am 100% sure of my salvation. I am 100% sure of what it took me to get there, and I am also sure that you are being a little judgemental.

1. - Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23)
2. - Understand that you deserve death for your sin. (Romans 6:23a)
3. - Ask God to forgive you and save you.
4. - Ask God to forgive you and save you. (Romans 6:23b)
5. - Call out to God in the name of Jesus! (Romans 10:13)
6. - If you know that God is knocking on your heart's door,
ask Him to come into your heart. (Romans 10:9-10)

In John, Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be "Born Again".

Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.(Matthew 10:32).

You see Dean, you are trying to pass judgment on someone that will be judged only once, by my creator. He knew me before I was even concieved. He knows the number of hairs on my head.

Charlie,
Apparently, you are confusing judgement with discernment. You and I are not in the position to judge, nor do we have the authority to place the sentence upon someone, but, we do have the capacity to discern whether a person is saved or not based upon what they are trusting for their salvation.

Now, you've had 2 swings at it and have yet to mention on what merits a soul is saved, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the full and total payment for your sins. When you say you asked God to forgive you and save you only demonstrates you are following what someone told you to do, and not what the Bible has to say on the matter of our salvation.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

God has not imputed anyone's sin upon them for nearly 2000 years. Jesus took all our sins to the cross....the sin issue has been dealt with...2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him......

Then, you drifted off into more typical churchianity statements such as "God knocking on your hearts door"....this is not Biblical at all..period!

You finish off with Romans 10:9...
Romans 9, 10, and 11 is the Apostle Paul pouring his heart out to his Kinsmen in the flesh, Israel. Notice the last 4 words..."thou shalt be saved"...this does not speak to a present pocession of salvation, but a future event for that nation.
Romans 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

A covenant is an "IF AND THEN" contract....if YOU do something, God will do soemthing.

There is nothing we can do to merit our salvation , Christ did it ALL and therefore salvation is an operation of God when we place our faith in the CROSSWORK of Jesus Christ!!

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Notice "saved" in contrast to "thou shalt be saved"...that's different!!!

Then, you fell back into the OT book of Mathew chapter 10. May I remind you that this is before the cross. and was only given to whom Jesus said He was speaking to.

Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

I'm not gonna deal with the John 3 "born again" statement, I've given you enough already.

Grace and Peace!
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
